Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team in a mixed acuity unit. The successful candidate will provide high-quality care to patients with diverse medical conditions, including respiratory distress and other acute health issues.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
- Previous travel experience is preferred
- Skills in IV start, ventilator management, telemetry, CPAP/BiPAP, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS required; NIHSS preferred
Job Details
- Target Ratios: 1:4-5 on a mixed acuity unit, with potential for 1:6 in extreme situations
- Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 - 07:15)
- Contract length: 13-26 weeks
- Weekend Requirement: every other weekend
- Orientation: 24 hours
Patient Population
The unit cares for patients with conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, COVID-19, flu, and pulmonary embolisms.
Unit Details
This unit has a higher acuity level than a traditional medical-surgical unit and has supportive resources in place, including:
- An Admission/Discharge nurse
- Assistant Nurse Manager
- Vascular Access Team
- Rapid Response Team (RRT)
- Code Team
- Behavioral Health Team
Special Equipment
- Chest tubes
- Medication drips (Dopamine, Cardizem, Heparin)
- Ventilators, trachs, CPAP/BiPAP
Additional Information
Candidates must be willing to float to similar units as required. The unit will also have opportunities for block scheduling to accommodate staffing needs.
Scrubs
Scrubs are not provided; white or navy blue scrubs are required.
