Job Description

Under the supervision of a physician, the Cardiac Sonographer will perform a range of cardiac ultrasound procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to generate technically diagnostic exams for analysis by a cardiologist or radiologist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Support and promote the organization's mission and values.
• Deliver diagnostic quality ultrasound exams in a timely manner for physician interpretation.
• Assist cardiologists and appropriate physicians during invasive ultrasound procedures.
• Maintain a current state license and requisite credentials.
• Perform high-quality ultrasound exams on patients within the designated area.
• Implement clinical protocols and policies effectively.
• Review order requisitions for essential information, special requests, and the correct procedures as ordered.
• Coordinate with patient reception staff to provide necessary patient information.
• Complete documentation of patient exams and all required processes for appropriate exam charges.
• Maintain medical supplies and necessary stock items in all examination rooms, preparing and cleaning rooms as needed.
• Prepare all necessary equipment for patient examinations.
• Perform additional duties consistent with the role as required.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

• Degree or certificate from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education accredited sonography program is required.
• Certification in cardiac ultrasound by the ARDMS or CCI is required.
• Basic Life Support certification is required.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience that supports proficiency in the stated responsibilities may be considered.

• Effective and professional communication skills with patients, visitors, families, staff, and physicians.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Candidates must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform tasks associated with this role, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Candidates may need to lift and carry up to 35 pounds frequently, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. There may be stress related to the high level of responsibility for ensuring quality care.
