Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Med Surg/Tele Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. This role involves providing high-quality care to patients in a telemetry unit, focusing on various acute conditions including orthopedic, urology, neuro-spine, and oncology cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer medication and treatments as prescribed, adhering to established protocols.
• Monitor patient vitals and respond to any changes in condition.
• Provide patient education and support to patients and their families.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Titrate drips accurately following prescribed nomograms, including heparin and other medications.
• Document all patient care accurately and efficiently in electronic health records.
• Work effectively as part of a nursing team while managing a patient load of 4-5 patients during day shifts.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience is required.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
• Experience in telemetry nursing is preferred but not required.

Unit Information

This unit has 29 beds and serves a variety of patient diagnoses. The nurse-to-patient ratio is designed to provide optimal care, with 1 nurse serving 4-5 patients during the day shift. Nursing Assistants are available on the unit to support patient needs.

Working Conditions

• 12-hour shifts with rotations during weekends and holidays.
• Floating to other adult medical/surgical nursing units may be required based on staffing needs.
• Pediatric patients are not included in this unit's care scope.
• Telemetry technicians monitor patients continuously, allowing RNs to focus on direct patient care.

Orientation and Training

New hires will participate in a comprehensive orientation program that includes a day of computer training followed by 1-2 days of direct precepted floor orientation to facilitate a smooth transition into the role.

The dress code allows for any color scrubs that are clean and professional in appearance.
