Position Overview

We are seeking a professional Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. This role is essential in providing comprehensive coverage across various shifts due to staffing shortages. The ideal candidate must be a generalist with experience in Blood Bank and the ability to efficiently operate within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures with precision and accuracy.
• Support various shifts, primarily focusing on mid-shifts, evenings, and rotating weekends after completion of training.
• Provide coverage on night shifts as needed, working independently after training and competency assessments.
• Contribute to the efficient operation of the laboratory by assisting in maintaining workflow and accommodating staffing needs.
• Assist in training and orienting new staff members.
• Utilize Epic for charting and documentation purposes.

Schedule

The position requires flexibility in schedule. Initial training will consist of 8-hour shifts over 5 days a week. Following training, the shifts will vary, including:

• Night Shift: 4x10-hour shifts (21:00 - 07:30)
• Evening Shift: 4x10-hour shifts (14:00 - 22:30)
• Midshifts: 4x10-hour shifts (Noon to 20:30 or 10:00 to 18:30)
• Dayshift: 4x10-hour shifts (06:00 - 14:30 or 07:00 - 15:30)

Qualifications

• Required: Generalist with experience in Blood Bank.
• Must be able to work independently on night shifts after training.
• Proficiency in using Epic for laboratory procedures and documentation.

Additional Information

• Weekends: Rotating weekends required after full training.
• No on-call requirements for this position.
• Parking is available at no cost.
• Scrub color is flexible; business casual is also acceptable for Medical Laboratory Scientists.
