Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room/Surgery

Summary:

The Registered Nurse practices independently in a clinical setting and demonstrates comprehensive awareness of various healthcare situations. This role involves providing both routine and complex care, while striving to achieve long-range goals and effectively managing contingencies of clinical nursing. The RN will make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to support the clinical team.

Responsibilities:

• Fulfill expectations associated with OneCHRISTUS Competencies, including roles as a Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provide nursing care in alignment with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address the complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to professional practice levels.
• Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately.
• Assess patients’ learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify potential issues and available resources.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Experience

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required (American Heart Association only).
• Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state of TX or a compact license is mandatory.

Work Schedule:

Full-Time position, working 5 days per week, with an 8-hour shift.
