Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Rehabilitation team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to patients within a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Unit Overview

The unit consists of 24 beds, where patients primarily present with conditions such as:

• Cerebrovascular disease
• Traumatic brain injury
• Amputations
• Spinal cord injuries
• Deconditioning
• Neurological diseases

Each patient is assigned a dedicated care team, including a physiatrist, nurse practitioner, nurses, therapists, and a social worker. The team collaborates to develop a tailored care plan for each patient. Therapy sessions are conducted for approximately three hours per day, Monday through Friday, with an average length of stay around two weeks.

Shift Details

• Three 12-hour night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM
• Every other weekend commitment required
• No on-call duty required
• Potential for floating within scope to meet facility needs

Orientation and Training

Orientation sessions are held every other week on Thursday. Candidates are encouraged to discuss their training needs and preferences during the interview process.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
• At least 1 year of experience in a related specialty preferred
• Charge nurse experience is a plus
• Current BLS certification required (must be AHA)
• Acute care rehabilitation experience is preferred
• WV or Compact RN License required (pending applications accepted but must have active license to start)

Patient Population

Candidates will be expected to care for patients with a variety of diagnoses, including:

• Spinal cord injuries
• Traumatic brain injuries
• Stroke
• Amputations
• Neuromuscular disorders
• Severe deconditioning related to cardiac or respiratory events

Additional Information

We are open to accommodating block schedule requests, which can be discussed during the interview. There are no restrictions on time-off requests, but candidates should include their requests in the application and discuss them during the interview.

Parking is available free of charge for traveling staff, and scrubs are to be worn in royal blue or white combinations. Charting is conducted using Cerner.
