Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the PCU (Progressive Care Unit) / Stepdown setting. This role is essential in delivering high-quality care to adult patients with a variety of cardiac conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a fast-paced environment.
• Monitor telemetry and manage dysrhythmias effectively.
• Administer medications and IV drips as prescribed, including Amiodarone, Cardizem/Diltiazem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Lasix, and insulin.
• Conduct timely discharges, hourly rounding, and bedside shift reporting.
• Assist with blood product administration, IV management, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs.
• Ensure adherence to Heparin protocols and PCA management.
• Collaborate with PCAs/CNAs and LPNs as part of a team nursing approach.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of PCU/Telemetry nursing experience required.
• Strong telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation skills are essential.
• Experience in pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care is required.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS are mandatory.
• Completion of Prophecy Relias Basic EKG assessment is required.
• 4 hours of stroke continuing education annually are necessary.
• MD RN license is required upon submission.

Work Schedule

• 3x12 hour shifts, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Every other weekend work is required.
• Travelers may need to float within scope and between like units as needed.
• Time off is only approved by unit leadership and specified in the contract.

Additional Information

• This is a 48-bed cardiac telemetry PCU unit with an average daily census of approximately 48 patients.
• Patients are primarily admitted from the Emergency Department, Cath Lab, and other inpatient units.
• The unit cares for patients with diagnoses such as congestive heart failure, NSTEMI, AFib with RVR, and other cardiac arrhythmias.
• Scrub color is navy blue.
• This is a dynamic unit characterized by quick patient turnover and a focus on timely discharge.
