Position Overview

The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing breast imaging procedures, including mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, and breast ultrasound. The role includes following MQSA and ACR guidelines to ensure patient safety and high-quality imaging outcomes.

Essential Job Functions

• Demonstrate knowledge of breast anatomy and pathological conditions, as well as safe radiation administration.
• Review patient requisitions for examination consistency with clinical diagnoses and demographic information.
• Operate all mammography and stereotactic equipment, ensuring compliance with protocols and contrast agent procedures.
• Conduct quality control checks to ensure equipment safety within MQSA and ACR guidelines.
• Educate and communicate clearly with patients before, during, and after imaging procedures, providing guidance on next steps in breast health care.
• Review breast imaging examinations for technical accuracy and present findings to the radiologist, communicating relevant data for patient care.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate breast imaging exams to support quality and continuity of care.
• Assist with departmental workflow management to ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Manage medical supply inventory to promote cost-effective departmental spending.
• Contribute to breast health education initiatives and participate in promotional and educational events.
• Assist in orienting new employees and healthcare professionals within the department.
• Maintain continuing education credits (CEUs) as required by A.R.R.T. guidelines and remain current with CPR certification.
• Adhere to organizational values and promote a culture of safety and accountability.
• Perform other duties as assigned while ensuring HIPAA compliance.

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
• Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with Mammography (M) required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
