Position Overview

Perform a wide range of technical activities associated with screening and diagnostic mammography procedures. This role supports quality patient care through the operation of mammographic equipment and adherence to regulatory standards.

Essential Functions

• Promote the philosophy and mission of the organization.
• Operate mammographic radiographic equipment and other related devices.
• Position patients appropriately, using immobilization as necessary.
• Calculate exposure factors and assist physicians during procedures.
• Conduct quality control functions related to mammography.
• Evaluate radiographs for diagnostic quality and obtain additional images as necessary.
• Prepare and set up medical supplies using aseptic techniques when appropriate.
• Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding and cooperation.
• Charge for mammographic procedures and supplies in Meditech.
• Provide orientation and education to new and student mammographers.
• Assist in maintaining and compiling statistical data relevant to the breast imaging section.
• Demonstrate proficiency in performing all breast imaging procedures, including interventional procedures.
• Monitor mammography procedures and supply charges for completeness and accuracy.
• Track and manage unread studies without notes.
• Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Education and Work Experience

• Graduate of a 24-month AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology.
• BLS certification required.
• Minimum performance of 25 mammography exams under direct supervision by an MQSA qualified individual.
• Minimum of 8 hours of training in digital or other modalities before performing independent procedures.

License and Certification

• ARRT certification in radiology.
• ARRT advanced certification in mammography.
