Job Overview

The Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating patient care, delivering age-appropriate nursing interventions, and providing patient education. The role involves collaboration with ancillary staff, nursing teams, and other members of the patient care team. The RN directs the team of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), and Ward Secretaries, while working under the supervision of a nurse manager or house supervisor.

Essential Functions

• Utilize the nursing process and theory to meet complex and unpredictable health needs for individuals, families, and groups.
• Coordinate a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
• Promote a supportive environment that empowers patients to act in their own interest or to intervene when necessary.
• Provide comprehensive educational support to patients and their families using diverse teaching methods.
• Work towards achieving positive health care outcomes through effective management of resources.
• Uphold ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities within the nursing practice scope.
• Adhere to the mission and values of the healthcare organization.
• Perform additional duties as required, including floating to other departments as necessary.

Qualifications

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate's degree, diploma, or Bachelor's degree.

Training and Experience

• Previous experience is preferred, but not required.
• Orientation will be tailored based on individual knowledge and experience.
• Additional education or training in related fields may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is required within nine months of hire; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and Chemotherapy Certification are highly recommended.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, hear, and talk. Frequent sitting and use of hands are required, alongside occasional standing, walking, reaching, climbing, and bending activities. The role may also involve the requirement to make detailed assessments and judgments.
