Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room

Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in this position practices independently and demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of all relevant aspects of patient care. This role includes the provision of both routine and complex care, with a focus on long-term goals and planning. The nurse will continue to develop skills to manage the contingencies of clinical nursing effectively and will delegate appropriate tasks to other care providers to ensure optimal clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations in accordance with applicable competencies including Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provides nursing care by utilizing the nursing process, which encompasses assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addressees the complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families in alignment with their level of practice.
• Administers medications and treatments following established protocols while monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication administration, and care provided.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, families, and caregivers while identifying issues and available resources.

Job Requirements

Education/Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience

• One year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Current BLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current ACLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current PALS certification required (AHA only).
• Current TNCC certification required.
• RN License in the state of TX or compact.

Position Requirements

• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member, with on-boarding requirements validated through successful completion of designated competency validations.
• All newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientation.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements.
