Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse to join our team. This position involves providing critical care in a fast-paced environment, utilizing advanced nursing skills and clinical expertise.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 2-3 years of Emergency Department experience
• Accepts first-time travelers
• Local candidates are welcome
• Proficient in IV starts, triage, telemetry, conscious sedation, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and procedural sedation administration
• Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH, PALS, and MOAB (facility will provide MOAB class)

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience with critical care patients, trauma, triage, and inpatient boarding
• Certifications: ENPC and TNCC

Job Details

• Target nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4, with assignments adjusted based on patient acuity
• 36 hours per week available
• Position available for 13-week contracts
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• Maximum of 7 days of RTO for Aya Auto Offer
• No float requirements
• Every other weekend commitment (Saturday/Sunday)

Patient Population

The Emergency Department operates in a community hospital setting, catering to a wide range of patient diagnoses across the entire age spectrum. The department is stroke and chest pain certified, managing patients with conditions that require immediate intervention and appropriate transfer protocols when necessary.

Special Procedures and Unit Information

• Stroke certified, providing t-Pa and TNK treatment
• Chest pain certified, managing walk-in STEMI cases and transferring to the catheterization lab for intervention
• No trauma or pediatrics services, with applicable transfers as needed
• Support staff includes nurses, CNAs, MURs, paramedics, and attending ED physicians
• Dedicated charge nurse available 24/7
• Potential for ED MSU boarding when in-house capacity exceeds

Special Equipment Used

• Alaris IV pumps
• Scanning technology for medications and lab specimens

Unit Systems

• Pyxis for medication management
• EPIC for electronic health records

Orientation and Scheduling

• Unit orientation includes two 12-hour shifts
• Hospital orientation during the first week; travelers must be available for daily classes

Uniform Requirements

Scrubs should be navy and/or white as per departmental guidelines.

Additional Information

Applicants must pass EKG testing prior to starting the position for this specialty.
