Job Summary

MRI Technologists are responsible for performing imaging procedures under the medical supervision of certified radiologists, ensuring patient safety and quality care during procedures. Technologists will assist radiologists as needed and oversee the training of student MRI Technologists. Good customer relations and effective communication with patients and families are essential aspects of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide care and safety for patients during imaging procedures, adhering to established protocols and receiving direction from Radiologists.
• Obtain correct written orders for procedures and utilize time effectively to meet patient care assignments while ensuring quality and timeliness.
• Instruct and prepare patients for imaging procedures and obtain informed consent when necessary, ensuring patients understand the procedure.
• Ensure correct orders, diagnoses, and clinical histories are accurately entered into the computer system.
• Maintain effective communication with Radiologists regarding procedures and uphold a professional demeanor at all times.
• Adhere to all hospital, departmental, and safety policies and procedures while practicing good radiation protection according to established guidelines.
• Assist team members to maintain records, reports, and files, demonstrating flexibility and accountability in job duties.
• Contribute towards improving departmental operations by suggesting ideas and solutions.

Qualifications:

• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.
• Graduate of an accredited school of Allied Health Professionals.
• Preference for candidates with cross-sectional anatomy experience or prior MRI experience.

Skills:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to perform and teach MRI exams to achieve satisfactory diagnostic images.
• Knowledge of OSHA, DHEC, FDA, and TJC standards and regulations.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment and radiological tools.

Work Demands:

• Frequent standing, walking, and lifting/moving patients.
• Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity and reaching with hands/arms.
• Corrected hearing and vision within normal ranges.
• Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, and risks associated with a healthcare environment.
• May be required to work under stress and meet deadlines, including potential on-call and weekend/holiday duties.
