Opportunity:

RN - Med/Surg

Job Details:

• 12-hour rotating shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, days and nights
• Weekend availability required
• No on-call requirements
• Nurse to patient ratio of typically 4-5:1
• 16-32 room unit serving medical patients from early infancy through end of life
• Care for a wide variety of patients including telemetry, surgical, orthopedic, neurological, end of life, bariatric, and alcohol detox patients
• May care for patients receiving chemotherapy on the unit
• Telemetry patients are monitored in ICU but may come to the floor
• Travelers are not expected to float to other units
• Required equipment: Pyxis medication system, Meditech, Medscanning, bladder scanner, Accurein, IV and PCA pumps, SCDs, feeding pumps, NG tubes, ostomy, pain block pumps, AccuCheck, and wound vac
• Charting system: Meditech
• Minimum 6 months of recent Med/Surg experience required
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Preferred certifications: PALS or ENPC and Chemotherapy
• BSN not required
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
• 8 hours of orientation with unit educator covering competencies and unit expectations, followed by 30 hours of preceptor training

This acute care facility operates a Med/Surg unit with 16-32 rooms serving a diverse patient population in a rural setting. Due to its rural location, the facility treats a wide variety of patients that may not be typically seen on a medical/surgical floor in a more urban environment. The unit utilizes modern equipment and technology to support comprehensive patient care across multiple specialties including telemetry, surgical, orthopedic, neurological, and bariatric care.
