Opportunity:

Neuro ICU RN

Job Details:

• 3x12 night shift schedule
• Every other weekend required
• Patient ratios of 1:2 for ICU patients; ratio may adjust to 1:4 for downgraded patients with transfer orders
• Float required between like units including PCU, MS/Tele, and MS Neuro within scope of practice
• No on-call required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; strong neuro experience is a plus
• First-time travelers accepted
• Charting system: Epic (experience required)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; CCRN preferred
• Care for high acuity neuro patients as well as general ICU patients including sepsis, respiratory failure, DKA, and GIB
• Required skills include: arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, central line care and management, continuous IV sedation, CVA/acute stroke management, external ventricular drain (EVD) management, ICP monitoring, interpretation of arterial blood gases, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, post craniotomy and post neurosurgery management, suctioning (ETT and NT), titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, and traumatic brain injury management
• Special equipment used includes ventilators, EVDs, bolts, pacemakers, thermoregulation devices, and NXStage CRRT
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Unit census of 18-19 patients with 21 total beds
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of submittal
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• Local travelers with permanent residence within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for a travel contract
• Compact license must be in hand at time of submission

Facility:

This short-term acute care facility operates a specialized Neuro-Trauma Intensive Care Unit and is equipped to handle a wide range of high acuity patients. With 325 total staffed beds, the facility provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support services and utilizes Epic for electronic charting. The unit is supported by a robust team of specialists and ancillary staff to ensure high-quality patient care across neurological and general ICU populations.
