Job Description

This position involves delegating responsibilities to Occupational Therapist Assistants and aides while focusing on patient care. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in accordance with occupational therapy standards, physician orders, and governing policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patient function through formal and informal testing measures to assess skeletal, neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular status, as well as developmental, social, and cognitive functions.
• Treatment Development: Create a goal-specific treatment regime based on assessment data and the patient's tolerance to carry out the treatment plan as prescribed.
• Documentation: Prepare and submit a written treatment regime as part of the authorized plan of treatment coordinated with the physician. Adjust the plan of care as necessary to reflect changes in patient status and co-sign verbal orders as needed.
• Scheduling: Develop a detailed treatment schedule that specifies frequency and duration, discussing it with the patient, family, or caregiver while coordinating with clinical support staff.
• Education: Provide education to patients, families, and/or caregivers regarding the pathology or condition, treatment alternatives, prognosis, and the rationale for treatment through various interventions. Supervise Occupational Therapist Assistants, Home Health Aides, and students in accordance with affiliate and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of Occupational Therapy experience, primarily in outpatient settings with some acute care experience.
• Valid and active Michigan Occupational Therapist License.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Additional Notes

• 40 hour guarantee with 8-hour days.
• Weekend requirements include one weekend per month (Saturday).
• No on-call requirements.
