Job Description

The Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of assigned patients during their shift, functioning within the health system's mission, vision, values, and policies. Key responsibilities include:

• Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care using age-specific criteria.
• Making judgments based on scientific knowledge and clinical skills.
• Assisting in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff, including LPNs/PCTs and Unit Secretaries.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with a strong focus on post-operative open-heart care.
• Critical Care Experience: Highly preferred.
• Chest Tube Management: Required experience in chest tube and other drain management.
• Pre- and Post-Procedure Care: Experience with patients who have radial and femoral access is required.
• Cardiac Monitoring Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips and recognize changes in cardiac rhythms is required.
• Cardiac and Pulmonary Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities is required.
• Procedural Equipment Experience: Experience in assisting with chest tube removal, managing temporary pacers, and troubleshooting various oxygen delivery systems is required.
• Floating Requirement: Must be able to float to all units within skill level.

Certifications

• Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Active American Heart Association ACLS certification.

License Requirements

• Must possess an active Ohio or Compact RN License.
