MRI Technologist
Location
- Peoria, Illinois
Contract Length
- 20 weeks
Role Overview
- MRI Technologist caring for patients while operating MRI equipment to produce images for Radiologist interpretation.
- The department scans outpatients and inpatients, including ED patients.
- The department is located within a Level 1 trauma center.
- The facility scans routine to critical patients of all age groups, including under sedation and anesthesia.
- The facility performs routine and complex protocols in Neuro, Body, and MSK.
- The facility scans implants including pacemakers, stimulators, and aneurysm clips.
Required Qualifications
- 1 year of MR experience
- ARRT or ARMRIT
- BLS
- RTR MR
- Knowledge of operating GE MRI scanners 1.5T and 3T
- MRI safety guidelines
- Starting IVs
- Standard acquisition sequences for MRI scanning
Preferred Qualifications

Schedule
- 12-hour nights, mostly Wednesday through Friday
- Shift options may include first, second, or third shift depending on department needs
- Does not take call
- Not scheduled on weekends
- 1 weekend a month
- Holiday coverage possible
Unit / Department Details
- Radiology | MRI Tech
- 5 total MR magnets
- Uses GE MRI scanners
- Uses Epic and McKesson PACS
- MRI tech assistant support: 1 per 8-hour shift
Floating / Coverage
- Maintains assignments within the Medical Center and the designated magnets therein
- May cover outpatients, inpatients, and ED patients
Additional Notes
- Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
- Standard solid-colored scrubs
- Tattoos must be covered
- 1 week of department orientation, depending on familiarity with the scanner type
- Drug screen required for submission
