Description
Surgical Technician (Certified)
Specialty: Nursing Location: Havre, Montana Employment Type: Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Hours: 40 per week Shift: Day Shift, Rotating Call (8-hour shifts)
Role Summary
Under the guidance of the Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technician is responsible for patient care and safety during surgical procedures and provides technical assistance in the Operating Room. The role requires knowledge of the ages of the patients served.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the room with nursing staff for surgical procedures in a timely, organized manner
- Practice the principles of asepsis and maintain a sterile field during procedures
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize all equipment in the OR and Endoscopic Lab; clean and wrap instruments for sterilization
- Stock and replace CS items and prepare CS inventory sheets
- Coordinate patient care with the RN Circulator and assist the physician, with instruments organized and available
- Follow verbal physician orders in the operating suite and handle surgical specimens
- Compile necessary equipment on the surgical field and serve as technical scrub in the OR
- Prepare room and equipment for Endoscopy procedures
- Monitor surgical equipment, maintenance, and repairs
- Transport patients to and from the OR
- Perform CPR as needed and use applicable instruments and equipment proficiently
- Document unusual occurrence reports and other departmental forms as required
- Maintain a cooperative disposition within the OR room
- Complete other duties as required
Required Qualifications
- Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 5 years of experience
- Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
- BLS/BCLS
- NBSTSA certification
Additional Notes
- Will not take an in-state traveler unless they have exceeded the 250-mile radius.
