CST/ORT - OR
Employment Type: Travel Location: Universal City, Texas Setting: Ambulatory surgery center Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: 7 AM - 5 PM Work Type: Part time
Role Summary
- Performs technical duties to prepare and care for pre-operative patients, including skin preparation, positioning, transport to and from the OR suite, and care of biological specimens.
- Maintains aseptic technique and sterile field, passes instruments and sutures to the physician, and assists as directed.
- Sets up the OR with tables, instruments, and supplies by case type, using the physician preference card as a starting point and keeping preference cards current.
- Works under the direction of a professional nurse to deliver direct patient care and assistance before and during surgical procedures.
- Maintains traffic control, dress codes, OR sanitation, and facility decontamination, processing, and sterilization policies.
- Adapts patient care to each patient's physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and developmental needs.
- Meets expectations of the applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist with 2 years of experience
- Certified Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- High school diploma or equivalent, or completion of a surgical technology program or an LVN/LPN program
