Mammo Tech
Location: Edwards, Colorado Employment Type: Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Hours: 36 per week Shift: Days, 4 x 10s
Role Summary
Performs breast imaging procedures, including mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, and assisting with breast ultrasound biopsy. Follows MQSA and ACR guidelines for breast imaging.
Key Responsibilities
- Review patient requisitions for consistency with the ordered exam, clinical diagnosis, and demographic information.
- Work with mammography and stereotactic equipment, exams, and protocols, including procedures that use contrast agents and sterile technique.
- Conduct and document equipment quality control to keep equipment within MQSA and ACR safe limits.
- Educate patients before, during, and after breast imaging, and guide them to their next step in breast health care.
- Review exams for technical accuracy, present completed exams to the radiologist, and communicate pertinent data to the patient's care team.
- Perform radiographic exams according to facility protocol.
- Schedule breast imaging appointments and coordinate exams for continuity of care.
- Help manage department workflow, ensure proper patient charges, and order and monitor medical supply inventory.
- Support breast health education events and participate in orientation of new employees and healthcare professionals.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Mammography Technologist license in Colorado.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Mammography Technologist, obtained within the last year.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification with Mammography (M).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Patient Populations
- Required: adolescents (13-17), young adults/adults (18-64), middle-aged adults (65-79), and geriatric patients (80+).
- Not applicable: neonatal/infant (0-11 months) and pediatric (1-12 years).
Physical Demands
- Sit 20%, stand 40%, walk 20%, squat 5%, bend 5%, twist 5%, lift 5%.
- Run, kneel, drive, climb, crawl, and reach above shoulder: not applicable.
- Exposure to potential healthcare hazards, including radiation, toxic chemicals, biological hazards, heat, noise, dust, and stress.
