PICU RN
Role Overview
Travel RN assignment in the PICU.
Unit Details
- 24 beds
- 40 staff members
- Patient ratios: 2:1, 1:1 for higher acuity, and 3:1 for lower step-down acuity
- Equipment used includes vents, drips, chest tubes, central lines, syringe pumps, trachs, and GT
- EMR: Meditech
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care (1 year of experience)
- PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care experience within the last year
- BLS
- PALS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience in a(n) Critical Care setting
- Intubated/vents experience
- ICU level of care experience
Preferred Qualifications
- ECMO experience, taking care of the patient not the pump
- CRRT experience
Floating Scope
- May float to all children’s units and NICU, including PIMC, PSRG, Pedi Hemonc, ER for inpatient holds, and PCICU
Schedule
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
Additional Notes
- Typical procedures include central line and chest tube placement, sedation, LP, and intubation
- Best fit is someone who is flexible, communicates well with the medical team, and has a friendly, positive attitude
