Position Purpose

Performs breast imaging procedures, including mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, and assisting with breast ultrasound biopsy. Follows MQSA and ACR guidelines for breast imaging.

Key Responsibilities

• Reviews requisitions for consistency with the clinical diagnosis and demographic information.
• Performs quality control to keep equipment within safe limits per MQSA and ACR guidelines.
• Educates patients before, during, and after procedures, and coordinates continuity of breast health care.
• Reviews exams for technical accuracy, presents completed exams to the radiologist, and communicates pertinent data to the patient's care team.
• Schedules breast imaging appointments and helps manage departmental workflow and patient charges.
• Orders and monitors medical supply inventory.
• Maintains 24 CEU credits every two years per ARRT guidelines.
• Participates in orientation of new employees and healthcare professionals, and assists with breast health education events.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Mammography Technologist license in Colorado
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification with Mammography (M)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Mammography Technologist experience of at least 1 year, with experience within the last year

Physical Demands

• Sit 20%, stand 40%, walk 20%, squat 5%, bend 5%, twist 5%, lift 5%
• Exposure to common healthcare hazards, including radiation, toxic chemicals, biological hazards, heat, noise, dust, and stress
• Must arrive promptly and reliably at the start of each shift
• Must be able to work under stress and to deadlines, independently or with others

Patient Populations

• Required: adolescents (13-17), adults (18-64), middle-aged adults (65-79), and geriatric patients (80+)
• Not applicable: neonatal/infants (0-11 months) and pediatrics (1-12 years)
