CT Scan Technologist

• Location: Old Bridge, New Jersey
• Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM (3 x 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week)
• Scrub Color: Black

Shift Requirements

• Weekends required
• No holiday requirement
• On-call requirement: optional
• No float requirement
• Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs, pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs, and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day

Role Summary

Performs computed tomography (CT) procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation. Assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Performs complex CT procedures, including reviewing clinical history and prescriptions and verifying exam appropriateness
• Prepares and reviews contrast questionnaires, and identifies and administers contrast media as prescribed
• Prepares patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization, and determines appropriate contrast type and dose
• Performs venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures
• Monitors patients for adverse reactions during procedures
• Evaluates radiographs for proper identification and diagnostic value
• Provides patient explanations and instructions at an understandable level
• Works scheduled shifts, including holidays and weekends, and overtime as needed
• Takes on-call assignments per Department of Radiology policy

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 5 years required
• Education: Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program; high school diploma or equivalent
• Licenses and Certifications:

  • NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License
  • ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license
  • ARRT (CT) certification within 12 months of hire
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire
  • Maintains CEU credits
• Hard Skills: General CT with and without contrast, CTAs, and perfusion; usage of GE Revolution CT scanner; knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and radiological positioning; understanding of CT software and hardware mechanics; venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures; CT protocols and patient safety

Preferred Qualifications

• Six months of CT experience
• ARRT (CT) license
