RN - Emergency Dept
Unit: Freestanding ED (FSED), Brownsville, Texas Employment Type: Travel Contract Length: 13 weeks Hours per Week: 36 Specialty: RN, Emergency Department
Unit Overview
- Beds: 11
- Staffing per shift: 2 RNs, 1 ED physician, and 1 radiology tech (day and night). Security officer on campus from 12 pm to 4 AM.
- Patient ratios: Team nursing
- Equipment: Standard emergency department
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Emergency Department (ED) experience of 1 year, with ED experience within the last year
- ACLS
- BLS
- Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (CPI)
- ENPC
- PALS
- TNCC
Typical Procedures
- Phlebotomy
- ED nursing care across all triage levels
- Airway management and intubation support
- Splinting and immobilization
- Moderate sedation monitoring and recovery
- Wound care and laceration repair assistance
- Cardiac monitoring, code response, and resuscitation support
Schedule and Logistics
- Block scheduling is mandatory.
- Scrub color: Royal blue
- Adherence to all facility and departmental policies and procedures is required.
Floating
- May float to the Brownsville FSED and the Main ED at the main campus, 23 miles away.
