RN ICU

Location: Thousand Oaks, California (1st floor, Tower 2) Contract Length: 13 weeks Hours per Week: 36 Employment Type: Travel

Unit Overview

Unit: ICU
Beds: 10
Staff: 30 total
- Day shift: 1 charge nurse, 5 staff nurses, 1 unit assistant
- Night shift: 1 charge nurse, 5 staff nurses
Patient ratios: 1:2 or 1:1, depending on acuity
Equipment: External ventricular drain (EVD) devices, CRRT and ECMO (starting in early 2019)
Typical procedures: Line placement, intubation
Float scope: RNs float to CCU and PCU. Travelers float first.
Recent hiring: New grads have been hired into this unit.
Recognition: Beacon award

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in California
ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience of 2 years
ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
ACLS certification
BLS certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience working with post-operative open heart patients
Experience with external ventricular drains (EVD)
Experience with therapeutic hypothermia
Experience with ventilator management
Experience with immediate post-operative care
Experience with arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling
Experience with CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
