Dental Assistant

Location: Estancia, New Mexico Assignment Type: Travel Contract Length: 13 weeks Schedule: Days, 40 hours per week (typically 5 x 8 hours; 8 hours per day) Setting: Correctional institution, with a minimum of 75% of time spent in contact with inmates/residents

Job Summary

Provide professional dental assistance during treatment of inmates/residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist during treatment by setting up instruments for each patient and treatment, and by preparing impressions and filling materials.
• Sterilize the dental unit and instruments after each treatment, and replace instruments before the next patient.
• Control medication, syringes, and other dental supplies or equipment, and inventory them as required by established procedures.
• Keep equipment and the work area clean, using appropriate sanitation methods.
• Review dental services provided to prevent inappropriate use or duplication of services.
• Review inmate/resident status to confirm that all necessary interventions, treatments, and services are completed.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• Minimum age of 21
• US citizenship required for clearance (may start with ICE clearance pending)

Preferred Qualifications

• Certificate or evidence of completion of a dental assistant training program (unless required by contract or applicable statute)
