We are hiring a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) – Surgery in Overland Park, Kansas. Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients

🩺 What You'll Do
• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team – consisting of the provider(s), surgeons, surgical technologists and more
• Assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes in patient condition along with the care provided thoroughly

• The role of the Registered Nurse is that of a circulating nurse although scrubbing skills are valuable to this position and are utilized in providing patient care. The nurse provides and supervises patient care under the direction of the Nurse Manager/Director in conjunction with the OR team. The Registered Nurse provides therapeutic and administrative services necessary for the care of the patient/family, and in support of the mission of our hospital. The Registered Nurse in 701 Surgery provides care for patients from all 5 PNDS developmental groupings (Child 1-12 y/o, Adolescent 13-18 y/o, Adult 18-64 y/o, and Senior Adult > 65 y/o. Nursing positions require scheduled as well as “call” commitments.
• 1+ years of recent OR RN Scrub/Circulating experience in the OR required
• Acute care experience is required
• Registered Nurse Diploma
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
