Critical Care APP Locum Opportunity – Illinois


A healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with Critical Care experience to join a collaborative ICU team providing coverage across Neuro, Cardiac, and Medical ICU step-down units.


Compensation: $145/hr


Position Details

Specialty: Critical Care Medicine

Provider Type: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Schedule: Night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Coverage: Monday–Sunday

Minimum of 3 consecutive shifts required

Approximately 16 shifts per month

Providers must have one day off after working 6 consecutive days

No call responsibilities


Practice Setting

High-acuity ICU environment

Adult patient population

Collaborative team including attending physicians, fellows, residents, and APPs

Full and temporary privileges available


Clinical Responsibilities

Manage approximately 10–15 patients per day

Develop and implement treatment plans for critically ill patients

Perform bedside procedures, including:

Central line placement

Arterial line placement

Manage post-operative cardiovascular surgery patients

Provide care for neurocritical care patients, including:

Subdural hemorrhages

External ventricular drains (EVDs)

Participate in the management of:

Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs)

VA ECMO

Heart transplant patients

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care


Coverage Model & Support

Three APPs provide coverage across Neuro, Cardiac, and Medical ICU step-down units

Pulmonary patients are managed in a step-down setting with support from an on-site Pulmonary Fellow

Trauma and NICU residents are available on-site

Attending physicians provide consultation and support as needed

Preferred Experience

Prior Critical Care APP experience required

Comfortable managing high-acuity ICU patients


Experience with:

Neurocritical care

Cardiovascular critical care

VADs

ECMO

Transplant patients

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team

EMR: Epic


Requirements

Board Certified or Board Eligible

Active Illinois license required at time of presentation

IMLC not accepted

DEA required

CSR required

ACLS required

BLS required

Minimum 1 year of experience

At least 2 years of clinical experience in Critical Care Medicine – Required


Credentialing

Estimated credentialing timeframe: approximately 60 days
