Schedule: 0630-1900 Days 3X12's

Requirements:  2 years of RN - SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST experience

Travelers Only (Must be 50 miles from hospital location)

-American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent.

Job Summary:
As a member of the healthcare team, the Surgical Technologist Level 3 collaborates with the surgical team to provide care for patients, ensuring that patient goals are met and the hospital's mission is carried out. The role adheres to the standards of practice set forth by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) and hospital policy. The Surgical Technologist demonstrates critical thinking skills through problem-solving and anticipating the needs of the surgeon and surgical procedures.

Required Qualifications:
 

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Surgical Technologist, which may include a combination of Surgical Technician or Surgical Extern experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS).

• Responsibilities include creating and maintaining a sterile environment, monitoring for breaks in sterility, and initiating corrective actions as necessary.
• Independently scrubbing cases with expert proficiency for specialty and/or generalist case mix.
• Utilizing appropriate resources to provide safe, effective, and fiscally responsible service.
• Applying surgeons' preference lists to determine instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures.
• Participating in ongoing initiatives to promote increased safety and effectiveness in the surgical environment.
• Advocating for patients in the intraoperative environment.
• Using preferred instrument tracking scanning systems consistently.
• Demonstrating superior knowledge and expert practice in advanced surgical procedures.
• Participating in ongoing educational activities and sharing findings with peers and team members.
• Contributing to a work environment conducive to the education of healthcare professionals.
• Supporting and participating in departmental cost-saving initiatives.
• Maintaining and practicing Surgical Technology with dignity and respect to the highest standards of professional conduct and patient care.
