Join a leading acute-care hospital in Lapeer, MI, as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) on a contract basis. This position offers an opportunity to work night shifts while contributing to essential laboratory services. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will play a crucial role in collecting and preparing blood samples for laboratory testing, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in all procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Use skin puncture and venipuncture techniques to obtain blood samples.
• Follow defined processes in obtaining samples, including verifying patient information, labeling specimen vials, and matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Dispose of contaminated needles in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies.
• Dispose of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, or policies.
• Enter patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into appropriate system(s).
• Process specimens according to established guidelines.
• Organize blood-drawing trays, ensuring all instruments are sterile and all needles, syringes, or related items are of first-time use.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste, and other policies and protocols.
• Perform other related duties as required and directed.
