Located in Templeton amongst the oak trees, a leading acute-care hospital has been serving northern San Luis Obispo County since 1977. Comprised of a 122-bed acute care facility, our team provides exceptional care in emergency medicine, orthopedics, obstetrics, digestive disorders, wound care, and various medical, surgical, and outpatient services. Job Summary: Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. Coordinate, manage, provide, and delegate patient care. Responsible for meeting the established Standards of Nursing Practice, and promoting cooperation among the health care team. This position is represented by CNA.

Job Requirements:

• Education and Work Experience:
  • Graduate of a school of nursing: Required
  • One-year recent acute care RN experience: Required
• Licenses/Certifications:
  • Current RN license in state of practice: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required

Essential Functions:

• Assures patients' personal needs are met.
• Assist in reducing noise level of nursing unit.
• Shows a commitment to co-workers.
• Works as a team to assure all patients have their needs met.
• Maintains patient, co-worker, and hospital privacy.
• Documentation is clear, concise, and legible. Delivers a clear, concise report.
• Completes all assigned quality monitors as directed by department manager.
• Follows infection control guidelines.
• Obtains history/physical assessment according to unit specific nursing protocol for all age groups.
• Reviews medical history, physical examination, and all available assessment data.
• Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and reports to appropriate person.
• Provides information needed to begin discharge planning in a timely manner, and to the appropriate personnel.
• Recognizes signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress, or other impending emergencies.
• Demonstrates knowledge and ability to effectively function in Code Blue and other emergency situations.
• Accurately administers and charts medications according to hospital policies and procedures adhering to patient’s rights.
• Implements and/or assists others in implementation and documentation of planned education.
• Assesses patient’s educational needs.
• Assist in the development and education of new staff members.
• Attends and participates in staff meetings.
• Completes education, training, and competencies for department specific skills.
• Successfully adapts to changes in the unit, environment, and workflow.
• Assures all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly.
