Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Med Surg/Telemetry Registered Nurse in Omaha, NE. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a team-based care delivery model, where you will collaborate with bedside RNs, LPNs, and CNAs to provide high-quality patient care. Our facility is dedicated to fostering a supportive environment that values teamwork, communication, and leadership.

The 5 West unit is a 40-bed non-specialty med-surg unit that cares for patients ages 18 and older with a variety of medical and telemetry needs, including acute and chronic illnesses such as sepsis, respiratory issues, gastrointestinal disorders, endocrine problems, cardiac diseases, and COVID-19. As a Registered Nurse, you will manage titratable drips, chest tubes, tracheostomies, complex wound care, post-bariatric procedures, high oxygen delivery systems, and end-of-life care.

Our team-based care delivery model, piloted in January 2025, ensures that each team member is well-versed in how this model benefits both patients and staff. You will work alongside Lead Nurses, Virtual Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Nursing Assistants to achieve a common goal of exceptional patient care. Virtual Nurses help with administrative tasks that require an RN license, allowing bedside nurses to focus on direct patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a med-surg and telemetry setting.
  • Manage and administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Float to various units as needed to meet staffing requirements.

Requirements:

  • BLS certification required.
  • 2 years of prior telemetry experience in a large, urban hospital setting.
  • Experience with managing drips is required on all floors.
  • EPIC charting experience is essential.
  • First-time travelers will not be accepted; however, candidates with 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center may be considered.
  • Must float within scope to meet facility needs, including potentially floating to Bellevue campus.
  • 100% nicotine-free facility.

Additional Information:

  • Weekends: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (Saturday and Sunday).
  • Holiday Requirement: Travelers must work 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year).
  • Local candidates will not be accepted; candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility.
  • Pending licenses are accepted, but if the license is not in hand at the time of submission, the traveler will be booked six weeks out.
  • Scrubs: Mandatory - RNs wear Steele gray scrubs with the facility logo.
  • Parking: Professionals can obtain a parking permit or use daily rate parking.
