Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Medical Lab Scientist in Newberg, OR. We are seeking a skilled generalist to cover various shifts due to a severe staffing shortage. This position may require on-call availability and rotating weekends after full training. Nightshift availability is preferred, but only for candidates who can work independently after training and competency.
The Medical Lab Scientist will primarily work mid shifts, evenings, and rotating weekends, with a focus on Blood Bank experience. The role includes a training period of 8-hour shifts for five days a week until fully trained, which is expected to take about a month. The training schedule will typically be from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM each day.
Once trained, the Medical Lab Scientist will serve as a flexible tech, covering any staffing needs, including vacations and illnesses. The facility operates on a 7 on/7 off schedule for night shifts, with 10-hour shifts from 9:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Evening shifts are from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, and midshifts may occur from noon to 8:30 PM or 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, depending on staffing levels. Day shifts are from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM or 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Key requirements include:
- Generalist experience with Blood Bank competency
- EPIC charting experience (hardstop requirement)
- Ability to work independently on night shifts after training
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a Short Term Acute Care/Level IV Trauma Center with 60 total staff beds. Scrub color is flexible, and there is no parking fee for employees.
