Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Observation Unit in Parkersburg, WV. This contract position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, providing care for patients with a variety of conditions. As an RN, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality care and ensuring patient safety.

Unit Overview: The Observation Unit consists of 21 beds, typically staffed for 18, with average RN-to-patient ratios of 1:6. The unit primarily handles pre/post catheterization patients, chest pain rule-outs on heparin drips, and patients with COPD, CHF, pacemakers, and arrhythmias.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer EKGs, bladder scans, FSBS, and monitor vital signs.
• Provide supportive therapy using Bipap and Cpap.
• Read and interpret cardiac strips, ensuring patient safety.
• Collaborate with the Charge Nurse and other healthcare professionals.

Required Certifications: BLS & ACLS are mandatory for this role.

Experience Requirements: Candidates must have experience reading cardiac strips and working with set-rate Cardizem and Amiodarone. Experience with TR Bands is a significant plus.

Shifts & Scheduling: This position requires 12-hour night shifts (7 PM - 7 AM), with weekends scheduled every other weekend. All time-off requests must be submitted upfront in the contract.

Floating Requirements: Travelers may be floated to other units, including ICU and Stepdown, but will only care for patients within their skill set.

Additional Information: The unit is known for its busy and fast-paced environment, with the ability to discharge up to 6 patients and admit 6+ patients daily. Orientation includes one day of computer training followed by one day of shadowing with a preceptor.
