Definition of Position: As a Registered Nurse, you will provide direct and indirect patient care in the Family Birth Center. You will communicate effectively with Physicians, Nurse Managers, and co-workers regarding changes in patients' clinical conditions, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. You will be responsible for initiating the computerized Plan of Care upon admission and responding quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, you will perform general nursing duties across departments with adequate supervision.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Accept responsibility for the direction, control, and planning of activities.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education Required: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Preferred: Evidence of continuing education appropriate for skill level and area of practice; BSN.

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations Required: Current RN license in the State of Oregon; ACLS and NRP within 6 months of hire; EFM once trained in Labor and Delivery.

Preferred: Certifications specific to areas of clinical specialty; CRASE training if travel assignment extends beyond a 6-month period.

Experience Required: No previous experience required, but previous clinical experience is desired.

Physical Requirements: This position requires sufficient auditory ability to detect and respond to various sounds, including patient alarms and verbal communication. Clear communication is essential, along with the ability to interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Visual acuity is necessary for observing patient conditions, reading documentation and monitors, and distinguishing colors for clinical purposes. The role involves motor coordination for performing fine motor tasks necessary for medical procedures, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently.

Working Conditions: This position is performed primarily in an indoor healthcare environment, such as a hospital or clinic. You may be exposed to infectious diseases and hazardous materials, requiring adherence to safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The healthcare environment can be fast-paced and unpredictable, necessitating the ability to respond quickly to changing circumstances.
