Join a leading acute-care hospital as a PCU Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Baltimore, MD. This contract position offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on high-quality patient care.

As a PCU RN, you will be required to float within scope to meet facility needs, but on-call duties are not required. Weekend work will be every other weekend. Candidates must hold current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS, along with a Prophecy Relias Basic EKG assessment. Additionally, 4 hours of stroke CEs annually are required.
Local candidates are welcome, and an MD RN license is required upon submission. Time off must be approved by unit leadership and noted in the contract.
This 48-bed cardiac telemetry PCU serves adult patients with an average daily census of approximately 48. Patients are primarily admitted from the Emergency Department, Cath Lab, and other inpatient units. Common diagnoses include congestive heart failure, NSTEMI, AFib with RVR, and post-cardiac catheterization patients.
The unit utilizes PCAs/CNAs and LPNs as part of a team nursing approach, and timely discharge, hourly rounding, and bedside shift report are expected for all patients. Strong telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation/management experience is required, along with pre- and post-cardiac catheterization experience. RNs must be comfortable caring for patients receiving drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem/Diltiazem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Lasix, and insulin. Blood product administration, peripheral IV management, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs are also required, as well as Heparin protocol and PCA experience.
The charting system used is Cerner, and the scrub color is navy blue. This is an exciting opportunity for dedicated RNs looking to make a difference in patient care.
