Minimum 2+ years recent Emergency Department RN experience required / CERTIFICATIONS – BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC Required / LICENSE – Active RN License Required / Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, 36 hrs/week, 13 weeks (6:45 PM–7:15 AM, every other weekend) / Setting: Acute Care – Emergency Department / EMR: Cerner / Skills: Emergency nursing, trauma care, triage, critical care stabilization, ventilator management, IV therapy, cardiac monitoring, EKG interpretation, stroke and cardiac emergency management, and care of behavioral health patients required / Unit Details: 30-bed Emergency Department with 1 trauma bay containing 2 trauma beds; Level II Trauma Center / Ratios: 1:4 / Common Patient Population: Trauma patients, medical emergencies, cardiac and stroke patients, psychiatric holds, and general Emergency Department patients / Drips: Emergency and critical care medication administration and titration as required / RT Equipment: Ventilators and full respiratory support available with RT coverage 24/7 / Charge Nurse: Dedicated charge nurse available; generally does not take patient assignments but provides break relief as needed / Hospitalist/Intensivist Coverage: Available in-house 24/7 / Monitoring: Telemetry monitoring utilized; RNs must independently read and interpret EKG rhythms and cardiac strips / Support Staff: Nurse aides available based on census and staffing needs / Scheduling: Self-scheduling utilized; schedules released 4 weeks in advance and finalized by the manager. Travelers may pick up extra shifts and trade shifts when approved / Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend / Holiday Requirement: Rotates with core staff based on unit needs / Floating: First to float; may float to all Sacramento-area facilities as needed. Mid-shift floating is rare but possible / Call Requirement: None / Orientation: 12-hour facility orientation plus 1–2 days unit-specific orientation with preceptor / Scrubs: Navy Blue (undershirts must be navy, white, or black; scrub jackets optional but must be navy) / Additional: TNCC is mandatory. Prior to acceptance, candidates must successfully pass the Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam within 24–48 hours (2 attempts allowed). Failure of both attempts results in DNU status for CommonSpirit Arizona and Sacramento regions. Two supervisory references are required at submission (one within the past 12 months and one within the past 3 years). Candidates cannot have worked as permanent, part-time, or PRN staff for any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the last 12 months.
