RN - ED ● About Facility: o Examples: ▪ Licensed beds: 101 ▪ Trauma designation: No ▪ Teaching hospital: No ▪ Chest pain center: No ▪ Stroke center: Yes ▪ Radius rule: Traveler s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit ● Unit Information: o Beds: 24 ▪ Average patients per day: 130 o Experience: 2+ years ED experience o First-time travelers welcome ● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: o Stroke, CHF, Electrolyte imbalance, Arrythmias, Respiratory arrest, Sepsis, COPD, Falls, MVCs, etc. ● Patient Ratios: o RN: 1:3-4 o CNA: 1:8-10 ● Required Licensure Certifications: o RN: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI required; TNCC (preferred) ● Skills required: o General ED skillset - Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, vent management, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, ● Support within the Department: o CNA available - vitals, blood sugar, labs, call lights, ice/water, room tidiness, bathing among other duties o Unit secretary/HUC: Yes o Charge nurse: Yes o Phlebotomy: Nurses/HCTs draw labs o IV/VAT team: No o Resource nurse: No o RT 24/7: Yes, ED nurses do treatments except continuous nebs o Hospitalist 24/7: Yes for Inpatient holds in ED o Intensivist 24/7: No o Telemetry monitoring - central monitor at desk ● Technology/Equipment: o EMR: Epic o IV Pump: Alaris o Med dispensing: Omnicell o Monitors: Phillips o Unit specific equipment: bladder scanner, IV pumps, SCDs, Telemetry monitoring, Vents, Bipap ● Floating: o Will be required to float per region needs will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice DECLINE if not agreeable o Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, any Freestanding ED within Region, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH) o If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock) ● Orientation (facility and unit): o NEO o 2 days departmental ● Scheduling: o Weekend rotation: every other o On call: No o Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays o RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours o Shift times: 0700-1900, 0900-2100, 1100-2300, 1300-0100, 1500-0300, and 1900-0700 o Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks ● Other notes: o Scrub Color: Navy o Parking: Free o Unit Culture: positive culture, family oriented
