Description
Specialty: Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg)
Shift: Night Shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Schedule: 3 × 12-hour shifts per week
Weekly Hours: 36 hours
Patient Ratio: 1:5
Charting System: Epic
Floating: No
On-Call: Required — 1 shift per pay period
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
First-Time Travelers: Accepted, subject to appropriate hospital experience
48-Hour Contracts: Not approved
Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified Travel Registered Nurse (RN) for a Medical-Surgical unit at a critical access hospital. The ideal candidate will have relevant hospital nursing experience, strong clinical assessment skills, and proficiency with Epic electronic medical records.
First-time travel nurses may be considered if they have the appropriate hospital experience.
Key Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in patient conditions.

Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.

Administer medications and treatments according to provider orders and facility protocols.

Monitor vital signs, assess patient responses, and promptly report clinical changes.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic.

Follow infection prevention protocols and patient safety standards.

Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions.

Participate in on-call coverage as scheduled.

Provide safe, compassionate, patient-centered care.

Requirements

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license appropriate for the facility's state.

Relevant hospital-based Medical-Surgical nursing experience.

Epic charting experience required.

Availability for night shifts, every other weekend, and on-call coverage.

Ability to manage a patient assignment with an expected 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio.
