Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg / Ortho

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts with shift times of 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Self-scheduling with every third weekend required (Friday and Saturday considered the weekend for night shifts)
• Patient ratio of 1:5 with nurse aide/patient care tech support at a 1:10 ratio
• Unit capacity of 28 beds plus 22 overflow beds
• Common diagnoses and patient types include total knees, total hips, shoulder replacements, COPD, diabetes, wounds, IV infusions, dementia, oncology, hip and ankle fractures, sepsis, pneumonia, cholelithiasis, ambulatory dysfunction, appendicitis, acute respiratory distress, CHF, and ETOH/drug abuse
• Common drips include heparin, IV antibiotics, antithrombotics, and narcotics; RNs are not required to titrate drips
• Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
• Monitor techs located in ICU; monitors available at the main nurses station on the unit
• First to float within scope when floating is required
• Scrub color required: Navy Blue
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Orientation consists of one week of classroom orientation followed by one 12-hour shift on the unit
• Unit focuses on hourly rounding and bedside shift report
• Travelers must be flexible, self-directed, and comfortable with change
• Charting system: EPIC
• Trauma Level 3, Acute Care Setting
• Required certifications: BLS
• Must pass an open book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
