Job Details:

• Function in the role of scrub person in the surgical technologist capacity
• Work under the supervision of the surgeon and R.N. to ensure a safe operating room environment
• Ensure equipment functions properly and that operative procedures are conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety
• Responsible for assuring completion of case carts according to preference cards
• Recognize and interpret preference cards for the procurement of instruments and supplies
• Communicate clearly with operating room staff and sterile processing staff to coordinate instrumentation for scheduled and non-scheduled cases
• Review daily schedule with charge nurse and day coordinator of sterile processing to identify possible turnover delays and scheduling issues
• Assume responsibility for core phone and communications, delegate duties, and coordinate breaks and lunches accordingly
• Serve as a resource for sterile processing and surgical services departments for procurement of necessary supplies and instrumentation
• Communicate and coordinate with materials management regarding supply utilization and deployment
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military surgical technologist program required
• American Heart Association BLS certification required
• Certified Surgical Technologist certification required
• Must live at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered
• Facility reserves the right to cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week contract in the event of low census or unforeseen circumstances
