Job Details:

• 13-week or 26-week contract available
• Night shift position
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call required
• Block schedules not required
• Expected patient ratio of 1:5
• 48 hours approved
• Position may float between units to meet unit needs
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day
• At least 1 year of nursing experience required
• At least 6 months of neuro experience required
• Experience with NIH scale required and proficiency in caring for neurology diagnoses required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Patient experience ratio of 4-5 required
• Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission
• 2 professional references required covering 1 year within the last 3 years
• Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities; refusal to float may result in termination and/or forfeiture of guaranteed hours
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Required skills: BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), craniotomy care, CVA (cerebrovascular accident), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, neuro stepdown, pre/post neurosurgery care, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, spinal cord injury, telemetry, and traumatic brain injury
• Scrub color: Any color for RNs
• No parking fee
• All RTO and specific scheduling requests must be submitted upfront during submittal

Facility:

This short-term acute care facility is a Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with 629 total staffed beds. The neuroscience unit is a designated stroke unit with Thrombectomy Capable JCAHO designation, a Spine Center of Excellence with JCAHO designation, and a NAEC Level 3 Epilepsy Center. The unit specializes in neurology, neurosurgery, and telemetry care with a daily census of 48 patients and 64 beds. The facility is a teaching hospital that utilizes Epic for charting and offers interpretation services as interdisciplinary support.
