Position Overview

NuWest is seeking skilled Surgical Technicians for an 8-week Operating Room contract in a Level 1 Trauma setting in a diverse metropolitan community. STs will support elective, urgent, and emergent surgical cases in a fast-paced environment that calls for adaptability and quick case turnovers. Candidates must be fully committed to completing the full assignment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and set up sterile fields with instruments, equipment, and supplies
• Maintain strict sterile technique throughout every procedure
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments during complex surgical cases
• Perform accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps
• Handle, label, and transport surgical specimens appropriately
• Assist with pre- and post-operative patient care, including positioning and room turnover
• Adapt to diverse, critical, and emergent cases with fast turnover times
• Follow all infection control, safety, and regulatory standards

Required Qualifications

• Active Surgical Technician certification
• Minimum 2 recent years of acute care experience as a Surgical Technician in a Level 1 Trauma setting in a metropolitan area
• Current AHA BLS and MAB or CPI certifications
• LA City Fire and Life Safety card (must be LA City) and completion of the LA County Employee Health Clearance before the assignment start date
• Ability to pass required background checks and drug screening
