RN - Post Partum/Mom Baby

Job Overview

  • Location: Overland Park, Kansas
  • Employment type: Travel

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kansas
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Labor and Delivery (1 year of experience)
  • Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
  • BLS
  • NRP
  • Post Partum experience

Unit Details

  • 26-bed unit
  • Typical patient ratio: 6–8 patients
  • Floating is within women’s services unless cross-trained to pediatrics and/or NICU
  • No on-call requirement

Clinical Experience

  • Post-partum
  • LDRP
  • Well baby nursery
  • Recoveries
  • Attending births for baby

Skills and Responsibilities

  • Assess and identify risk factors related to sepsis, VTE/DVT, suicide, malignant hyperthermia, and pressure injury
  • Provide discharge education and patient assessment
  • Manage abnormal assessments, pain, time management, and prioritization of care based on acuity
  • Use AIDET and BSSR

Procedures

  • Circumcisions

Scheduling

  • Typically includes 2 hard-to-staff shifts per week
  • Includes 1 full weekend every 3rd week plus 1 additional weekend

Dress Code

  • Black scrub pants
  • Caribbean blue scrub top, vest, or jacket
