Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)

Specialty: Surgical Services Location: Vancouver, Washington Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: ASAP, 4 weeks from offer. Orientation is held weekly on Mondays. Shift: 3x12 variable, a mix of days, evenings, or nights depending on unit need. Day shift is 7:00 to 19:00 and night shift is 19:00 to 7:00. Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Role Summary

This position assists the surgical team during operative procedures. The primary responsibility is preparing and maintaining the sterile field for the operative patient.

Essential functions:

• Arrange and inventory sterile setup for operations, and pass items to the surgical team as needed
• Apply the principles of asepsis, and establish and maintain a sterile field
• Assist with preparing and moving patients
• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instrumentation
• Assist with clean-up and room turnover
• Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images

Requirements

• Licensure and Certification:

  • Valid Certified Surgical Technologist license in Washington
  • NBSTSA
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Military Training Network, or Canadian American Heart Association
• Experience:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist with 2 years of experience
  • Certified Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
• Background and screening:

  • Background check completed within 60 days of start, including a 7-year search, Social Security verification, and federal exclusion screenings (EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG, run 15 days before start and every 45 days after)
  • Washington State Patrol check within 90 days before start
  • Verification of highest education related to the specialty
  • Work history verification covering the last 7 years, with proof of 1 year in specialty
  • Two references from a Charge RN or higher within the last 3 years, covering 1 year in specialty
• Health and vaccination:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative IGRA or 2 PPDs within 1 year of start
  • Drug test within 30 days of start
  • Documentation for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis B, and Tdap, or facility-specific declinations
  • Flu vaccine or declination on file during flu season
  • Fit test within 1 year of start for onsite roles, updated annually
  • Passing color blind exam
• Other: Passport-style photo with a white or gray background for badge

• 1st-time travelers: Accepted
• Local candidates: Not accepted. Candidates must live 60 or more miles from the facility.
• Onboarding: Orientation quiz must be completed before start with a score of 100%. Traveler orientation checklist and orientation manual must be reviewed before start. Criminal disclosure statement and demographic form are required before start.
