Description
Registered Nurse - PACU
Location: Ketchikan, Alaska Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Unit: Short Stay Unit Shift: Day, 7:00 to 15:00 (5x8 hours; 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week) FTE: 0.9 FTE day position On Call: Required every 3rd to 4th night and weekends
Role Summary
Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach with patients, families, and the care delivery team. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care needs, documents care in the healthcare record, and directs and delegates care to team members according to their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
Patient Diagnoses: Screening colonoscopies, EGD's, general surgery (hernia repairs, lap cholecystectomy, lap appendectomy, bowel obstruction), orthopedics (arthroscopies, total joints, ORIF's, trauma), OB/GYN (tubals, hysterectomies, cesarean sections), ENT, and urology.
Special Procedures: Cardioversions in PACU, blocks
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Alaska
- PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience of at least 2 years
- PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
