- Schedule: 40 hours per week, rotating day shifts
- Shift Duration: 8-hour days
- Shift Times: 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., or 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,130 - $1,210
- Additional Schedule Notes: Occasional weekends and holidays
Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of relevant phlebotomy, donor care, blood collection, or clinical laboratory experience required
- High school diploma or GED required
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and remain effective under pressure in a fast-paced healthcare setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Prior experience with whole blood collections or therapeutic phlebotomy preferred
- Experience drawing pint units with a 16-gauge needle preferred
- Knowledge of donor screening, blood groups, and Rh types preferred
- Computer and laptop proficiency required for donor records and data entry
- Current DPT (ASCP) or QDP (ASCP) certification preferred for advanced donor care responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Perform donor screening to verify eligibility and maintain compliance with established standards
- Carry out whole blood collections and therapeutic phlebotomy procedures
- Support offsite blood drives and donor center operations as needed
- Prepare and label blood components and samples for testing
- Accurately document donor records, data entry, and donor deferrals
- Assist with donor recruitment efforts and provide excellent service to donors, patients, and staff
- Maintain daily inventory and replenish donor care supplies
- Collect appropriate blood specimens from donors and patients
- Keep work areas clean, sanitary, and organized
- Follow departmental and hospital policies, including fire and disaster procedures
- Complete additional duties as assigned to support safe, efficient hospital laboratory and donor care operations
