This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule/Shift
Predominantly 10-hour shifts with varying start times of 8a-6p, 9a-7p, or 10a-8p. Staff must be flexible and are expected to stay until all cases are completed for the day.
Job Description
Join our dynamic PACU team in Wheeling, West Virginia, where you will provide comprehensive care to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The PACU consists of a blend of Phase 1 and Phase 2 recovery, accommodating various surgical procedures. Our environment supports a collaborative approach to patient care, with nursing staff working alongside charge nurses, unit aides, and dietary teams to ensure the best outcomes for our patients. Experience with EMR Sunrise is required for documentation.
Responsibilities
- Provide post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgery and other procedures.
- Monitor patient vital signs and manage any immediate post-operative complications.
- Administer medications and perform various procedures as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with surgical teams, patients, and families regarding care plans and recovery processes.
- Participate actively in team meetings and patient care rounds.
Required Experience
- Current RN license.
- Experience in PACU or related surgical nursing.
- Ability to interpret telemetry strips and manage ventilator patients as needed.
Certifications/Licensure
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications are required for inpatient and outpatient PACU, and Surgery Center roles.
- BLS certification required for the Anesthesia Clinic.
