Schedule/Shift

This position is scheduled for 3 twelve-hour night shifts, from 7 PM to 7 AM, on an every-other-week rotation, with holidays as needed. Floating between Cone Health facilities is required.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse will provide care for acutely ill medical-surgical and orthopedic patients in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. Patients may include those with conditions such as acute/chronic respiratory illness, post-operative care, active GI bleeding, and chronic pain management. Experience with telemetry monitoring and IV medication drips is essential, as well as familiarity with Epic charting systems.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments, including IV medication drips such as Heparin and TNA.
• Monitor telemetry and respond appropriately to dysrhythmias and other emergencies.
• Assist in the care of patients with conditions such as CHF, renal failure, diabetes, and those undergoing radioactive therapy.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and Social Services.
• Maintain accurate patient records and manage documentation using the Epic system.
• Utilize Rapid Response and Code teams as required.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably within a medical-surgical telemetry setting.
• Experience in managing patients with dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring.

Certifications/Licensure

• Active RN license required.
• BLS certification is required; ACLS and NIHSS are preferred.
